Liberty Shielding supplies impact resistant laminated glass manufactured for applications where increased safety, strength, and glass retention are required. Laminated glass consists of multiple layers of glass permanently bonded together with a durable interlayer, creating a finished panel that is significantly more resistant to penetration and fallout than standard monolithic glass.
When broken, the interlayer helps hold the fractured glass together rather than allowing large pieces to fall from the opening. This makes laminated safety glass an excellent choice for doors, windows, storefronts, partitions, entrances, and other areas where safety and security are important.
Liberty Shielding offers custom-cut laminated glass panels in a variety of sizes, thicknesses, configurations, and finishes for commercial and architectural projects.
Our impact resistant laminated glass panels can be fabricated for a wide range of commercial, institutional, and architectural applications, including:
Standard tempered glass is designed to break into relatively small pieces when fractured. Laminated glass works differently. The glass layers are bonded to an interlayer that helps keep the panel together after breakage.
This retained-glass construction makes laminated glazing especially useful when the project requires the glass to remain in the opening after an impact or when additional resistance to penetration is desired.
For applications requiring enhanced security, Liberty Shielding can help determine the appropriate laminated glass configuration based on the size, application, and performance requirements of your project.
Every project is different. Liberty Shielding can supply custom laminated glass manufactured to your required dimensions and specifications.
When requesting a quote, provide the required glass dimensions, quantity, desired thickness or configuration, and any applicable project specifications or performance requirements. Our team can review the requirements and help identify the appropriate glass for your application.
Laminated glass can be manufactured to meet applicable safety glazing requirements, including ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR Part 1201, depending on the specific glass configuration.
If your project requires a particular impact, hurricane, forced-entry, safety glazing, or other performance standard, please provide that requirement when requesting a quote. Performance ratings and certifications apply only to glass assemblies specifically manufactured and tested for the applicable standard.
Impact resistant laminated glass is made by permanently bonding multiple layers of glass with an interlayer. The interlayer helps absorb impact energy and retain broken glass fragments if the panel is damaged.
Yes. One of the primary advantages of laminated glass is that the interlayer is designed to hold broken glass fragments together after breakage. The panel may crack, but the glass is less likely to immediately fall out of the opening.
No. Tempered and laminated glass use different methods to improve safety. Tempered glass is heat-treated and designed to break into smaller pieces. Laminated glass uses an interlayer to retain the glass after breakage. Depending on the application, laminated glass can also incorporate heat-treated or tempered glass.
Yes. Liberty Shielding supplies custom-cut laminated glass for commercial, architectural, security, and specialty applications. Contact us with your required dimensions, quantities, and specifications for pricing.
Yes. Laminated safety glass is commonly used in doors, windows, sidelites, storefronts, entrances, and other glazed openings where additional safety or security is required.
Not necessarily. Standard laminated safety glass should not be considered bullet resistant unless the complete glazing configuration has been specifically designed and tested for ballistic resistance. Liberty Shielding also offers dedicated bullet-resistant glazing for applications requiring ballistic protection.
